Get to know Briana

Briana was born and raised in the North Dallas area. She spent a small part of her childhood in Florida but returned to Texas the very first chance she had. Growing up in a biracial and bi-religious household, she learned that there can be beauty in learning and connecting with others even when not sharing the same perspectives, cultures and beliefs. While this environment allowed Briana to explore her own faith and beliefs, it also made her realize that she wanted to be a counselor and help others on their own journey as well. Experiencing the loss of her mother to cancer at the age of 19 further increased her desire to pursue her passion of helping and connecting with others.

Briana has a bachelor’s degree in human development and family studies from Texas Tech University, her master’s degree in counseling and development from Texas Woman’s University, and is now currently a Licensed Professional Counselor.

Briana has spent eight years in a variety of therapeutic settings including a residential treatment center for adolescents, private practice, Children’s Advocacy Center, and Richardson ISD as a social-emotional counselor. While she enjoys working with clients of all ages, her main focus is working with children, teens and young adults who have experienced trauma and exhibit maladaptive behaviors or struggle with self-regulation. Her specialty is working closely with the guardians by supporting and equipping them with the tools needed to help with their children and teens.

Briana believes that the greatest gift that we can ever give or receive is unconditional love and that often, children and teens are asked to live life with many conditions and expectations. Through therapy, she is able to build a safe space for clients to explore and express who they are and who they want to be without those conditions, while also implementing psychoeducation to empower them with healthier ways to address life’s difficulties. She can provide an array of options including play therapy, talk therapy, filial therapy, and group therapy for Anxiety Disorders, Depression, Grief & Loss, Kids, Teens & Tweens, Child Counseling, Child or Play Therapy, Maladaptive Behaviors, Trauma & Abuse Recovery, and Young Adults.

Briana married her high school sweetheart and they have two children together. In her free time, she enjoys running, reading, baking and spending time with family and friends.
