Get to know Jennifer
Jen Shifler is a Registered Yoga Instructor, Integrated Somatic Yoga instructor, and Physio Yoga practitioner. Through her full spectrum of experience and continuous training, Jen offers incredible insight into the art of yoga and its positive impact on the mind, body, and spirit. She guides others through an easy-to-understand integrated approach emphasizing the anatomy and biomechanics of breath, and her classes and workshops blend a breath-based and therapeutic style of conscious corrective teaching and exercises. She is passionate about breathing embodiment, the science behind yoga, and practices of physical and emotional resiliency.
In 2013, Jen completed her 200-hour Yoga teacher training certification and also became a mom. While teaching in the elementary school system, she began sharing her passion for yoga and its positive effects on the mind-body connection with at-risk kids. She quickly noticed how much the kids enjoyed learning the poses and breathing techniques and the positive changes and benefits they experienced as a result of this approach. Her continued efforts led to the development of a curriculum and structured program which she facilitated and then trained others to lead. Her SEL and Brain Healthy Breathing science-based curriculum has been implemented across Arizona schools for nearly a decade. She is a frequent wellness presenter and the founder of Moonstone Yoga.
Jen’s continued training in trauma-sensitive yoga and Physio Yoga Fascia Release and Biomechanics quickly led her to establish a series of classes tailored to addressing trauma and stress management. As a Mindfulness First instructor who is certified in Somatics, she has a deep understanding of the physical effects of stress and trauma stored in the body, and uses her knowledge and skills to help others address and alleviate their chronic stress and strain with her compassionate and gentle approach.
When she’s not getting her zen on with Yoga in the community, you can find her BBQing with her husband and begging Frenchie named Jazz, cheering her two sons on at hockey, nerding out with a good book, and trying to balance out life’s beautiful messes.
