Get to know Lacey
Drawing on somatic techniques and mindfulness-based approaches that work with both body and mind, Virginia therapist Lacey Howell helps adults, teens, children, and families navigate hyperactivity, complex trauma, and anxiety. At Lifeologie Counseling Hampton Roads, she also works with clients facing challenges such as depression, agoraphobia, phobias, social anxiety, generalized anxiety disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), hoarding disorder, hyperactivity, narcissistic abuse recovery, job stress and burnout, substance use recovery, and the emotional impact of suspected neurocognitive decline or dementia in older adults.
When the body is under stress, it can be difficult to “think” your way out of distress. That’s why Lacey uses her expertise in Emotion Focused Individual Therapy (EFIT), Rational Emotive Behavioral Therapy (REBT), and other evidence-based methods to teach her clients how to use the body’s natural biomechanisms to trigger relaxation, improve focus, and restore energy.
EFIT helps clients build healthier attachments to themselves and to the important people in their lives—family, friends, partners, and co-workers. REBT offers tools for gaining greater control over thoughts, emotions, and behavioral patterns, helping clients break free from cycles that keep them feeling stuck.
Lacey earned her Masters in Professional Counseling from Liberty University. She is a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional (CCTP) and is trained in Mental Health Integrative Medicine.
Many of her clients are high-achieving in some areas of life, but struggle with relationships, self-doubt, or feeling “stuck” in patterns they can’t break. Whether it’s reconciling who they are with who others expect them to be, or rediscovering their voice after years of self-criticism, Lacey helps her clients find clarity, confidence, and renewed hope.
Known for a personable, warm, and collaborative style, Lacey creates a comfortable space where clients feel supported, understood, and never alone in their healing journey. With experience working with individuals ages 4 years to 100+, she brings versatility and a deep respect for each client’s unique story.
Outside of the therapy room, Lacey enjoys mindfulness practices, reading, gardening, and writing poetry—finding balance and creativity that also inform her therapeutic approach.
Sometimes, it is hard trying to balance the version of yourself that you see, the version that others expect, and the version that you want to be. Lacey helps her clients find their voice and gain the appropriate skills to support their evolving identity and vision.
If you feel like life has overwhelmed you and it is too late, think again. Lacey can help you find a way forward! She is currently booking telehealth sessions for new clients. Call (757) 960-3121 to learn more.
