Get to know Madison

Madison Sellers (he/him/his) started as a Masters Level Counseling Intern at Lifeologie Counseling in May 2022. He was born in Philadelphia and raised in Pinehurst, NC. He received his Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Meredith College in 2014 and his Masters of Arts in Forensic Psychology from George Washington University in 2015. He is currently completing his Masters of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Adler University.

Madison has been working with youth and families in various capacities over the past 11 years. During this time, he has had the pleasure of working with children, adolescents and family members of all ages and experiences. While completing his Masters internship at the Culmore Teen Center in Fairfax, VA, Madison acquired extensive experience developing and facilitating group programs for at-risk Latinx/ESL adolescents. He has largely worked with diverse families including LGBTQI+ families, foster/adoptive families and families experiencing disability in one or more family members.

Counseling Background

Madison most often uses a combination of narrative, systemic family, DBT and creative expression therapies in his work. In individual sessions, Madison has helped clients of all ages address concerns surrounding grief and loss, major life transitions, personal identity and self-expression, depression, anxiety, trauma and adjustment difficulties. As a counselor, he believes that language is important because words have meaning. He enjoys helping his client’s find their preferred method of communicating and expressing themselves and assisting them in developing tools to successfully navigate life on life’s terms.

Madison is joining our team as a Counselor Intern AND as a Qualified Professional as part of our Enhanced Outpatient Therapy team. Madison is skilled in teaching Dialectical Behavior Therapy skills including emotional regulation, interpersonal skills, mindfulness, distress tolerance and walking the middle path. Madison is ready to meet with your teen and family in-home, online or in the office!

Madison is an active member of the recovery community in Raleigh and often spends his free time doing service work. He also enjoys reading, crafting, volunteering at the Marbles Kids Museum and playing Pokémon with his nephew.
