Get to know Sakile

Sakile (pronounced Suh-Key-Lay) Brown received a Bachelor of Education in Exercise Physiology from the University of Miami, and is currently pursuing a Master of Biblical Counseling from Dallas Theological Seminary. Looking back on her college experience, Sakile realized she wants to help teens and college-aged people navigate that sometimes difficult season of life. After completing over half of her Master’s program, Sakile also developed a desire to work with couples.

Sakile was born and raised in Houston, TX and played volleyball at the University of Miami (it’s all about the U!)  After graduation, she decided to do an internship with the Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA), where she ultimately realized her love for serving other people. Because she was always interested in psychology and understanding what makes people who they are, Sakile decided that counseling would be the perfect field for her. After all, she began her time at the University of Miami as a psychology major.

Approach & Style

Sakile is empathetic, caring, and nonjudgmental.  She works with people across all faiths and believes that the therapeutic relationship should transcend differing cultures, faiths, and backgrounds. She values the therapeutic relationship because it can be foundational for change and growth.

Sakile is drawn to solution-focused therapy and CBT (cognitive behavioral therapy). She believes in the connection between how people think and feel with how they behave. She believes in building clients’ self-efficacy, self-confidence, and self-esteem.

Sakile is married to her college sweetheart. She currently is a full-time student and works part-time for her husband’s business. In her free time, she enjoys bowling, traveling to tropical destinations, and playing card games.
