Get to know Sarah
Hailing from New York, Sarah Taormino comes to Lifeologie Counseling with a strong background in family therapy and family stabilization services. She has training in two evidence-based family therapy models: Functional Family Therapy and Multisystemic Therapy. After 5 years of working within the Child Protective Services world, Sarah has a rich understanding of how intersectionality and adverse life events shape our reality. She’s also no stranger to living in Survival Mode, and her ultimate goal is to help as many people as possible break free of this.
She knows you have read countless bios of therapists who are empathic, warm, and genuine, and she doesn’t want you to think she is not. She has held various roles and titles throughout her life, including therapist, supervisor, and Assistant Vice President. Her most cherished role of all is that of Older Sister, and this role shapes her counseling style. Don’t worry—you will get all the warmth and empathy that you need, but Sarah will also challenge you and push you to look at things differently. As an Older Sister with 24 years of experience, she is also a master at sensing reluctance and discomfort, and she will be the guiding force for you to bring those emotions into the room. She will introduce you to Radical Acceptance to help you get unstuck and realize things are not as bad as they might seem. Sarah also feels that laugher is the greatest gift you can give another person, and she hopes to make you laugh throughout your sessions. (When appropriate, of course.)
She works primarily with adolescents and adults seeking to work through life transitions, LGBTQIA+ issues, relational conflict and dysfunction, self-esteem, anxiety, and depression. She offers treatment with the use of a Cognitive Behavioral approach, with elements of Mindfulness infused throughout.
Sarah has her Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from St. John’s University, and was initially licensed and practicing as an LMHC in New York. She decided she wanted to try an upper body workout that was not “Unearthing vehicles from within blocks of ice and snow,” and relocated to Nevada. She is licensed to practice in Nevada and Texas.
Moving allowed Sara to embrace her spirituality and her connection to the metaphysical. In her free time, she loves honing her craft of tarot card and natal chart readings. She also hopes to one day do stand-up comedy, but for now, settles for watching John Mulaney, Iliza Schlesinger, and Tom Segura master their craft. You can most often find her sitting outside, book in hand, or playing with her two incredibly spoiled cats, Stinky and Gremlin (Ask for pictures and she is happy to oblige) She also enjoys painting, going on road trips, and thrift shopping. Or rather any shopping for that matter, but a good deal makes her happiest!
