Get to know Eliza

Eliza Fochler is a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor Associate (LCMHCA) with a Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from North Carolina Central University. She provides both individual and couples counseling, offering online and in-person sessions at Lifeologie Counseling Durham. Eliza’s specialties and professional interests include working with neurodivergent individuals (ADHD, Autism Spectrum Disorder), trauma and complex PTSD, anxiety, relationship strain, and life transitions.

Eliza strives to create a warm and welcoming space where clients feel comfortable exploring their values, beliefs, and experiences. Her approach is grounded in trauma-informed care and multicultural competence. She recognizes that every person’s experiences and needs are unique, and values learning from her clients to better understand their perspectives and provide meaningful, personalized support.

Eliza uses evidence-based approaches in her practice, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Motivational Interviewing (MI). She also incorporates mindfulness and somatic-based interventions to help clients feel more grounded, present, and connected to themselves emotionally. Sessions with her are compassionate and curious, creating space for both self-exploration and gentle challenge when needed. She has a special interest in helping clients navigate their neurodivergence, deepen self-awareness, learn practical coping skills, strengthen relationships, and manage or process difficult life challenges. She’ll celebrate the wins, sit with the hard moments, and cheer you on through it all!

Eliza was born and raised in Durham, NC, and later moved to Charlotte to complete her Bachelor’s in Psychology and Criminal Justice. She became drawn to the counseling field, finding herself fascinated by the ways our emotions, behaviors, and thought patterns influence who we are and shape how we navigate the world around us. She began her mental health career in community mental health, working for a nonprofit psychosocial rehabilitation organization supporting individuals through case management, crisis intervention, emotional and behavioral support, community integration, and advocacy. Through this work, she discovered a passion for helping individuals navigate life’s challenges, grow through their experiences, and make meaningful changes that allow them to feel more connected to themselves and the life they want to live.

Outside of counseling, Eliza enjoys listening to the Crime Junkie and Good Hang podcasts, spending time with her pup Frankie, cooking for her family and friends, baking to satisfy her sweet tooth, and occasionally hyperfocusing on a new craft until she’s ready to move on to the next one.
