Get to know Sammy
Sammy Ray Jenkins is a Peer Recovery Support Specialist (RSPS), Certified ARISE Interventionist (CAI), and final-semester Clinical Mental Health Counseling student preparing for internship. He specializes in working with adolescents, adults, couples & marriage, and families in the areas of holistic wellness, fitness, addiction, experiential & adventure therapy, attachment theory, psychodynamics, and family systems.
Using these approaches to enhance mental health enables him to develop person-centered, integrated strategies while focusing on childhood issues shaping negative communication patterns within relationships, detrimental coping mechanisms, self-exploration, worth, physical health, spirituality, and self-identified goals.
Seven years ago, during a period of intense reflection, growth, and realignment, Sammy left his career in marketing to find greater fulfillment in helping others who struggle with addiction, something for which he has personal experience. Sammy has held positions at Chapter House Sober Living, Innovation 360, and Thrive Recovery & Wellness, serving as a case manager, life development specialist, recovery coach, and interventionist, with a focus on comprehensive family care.
While early relationships and family systems have a profound influence on how people perceive themselves and the world, Sammy believes that all individuals and families possess the strength and resilience to effect lasting change. When not with clients or his greatest joy – family – Sammy invests in his wellbeing through passionate mountain biking, strength training, rock climbing, learning, hiking, meditation, and regular church attendance.
Life is a beautiful gift, accompanied by challenges; every part of the journey presents an opportunity to grow.
