Get to know Shimya
Shimya Smith believes in creating a safe and supportive space where children, teens, and adults can feel heard and understood. She has a genuine passion for helping people navigate life’s ups and downs, strengthen their sense of identity, and discover their inner resilience. Her heart for counseling grew out of noticing the gap in services for children and adults on the autism spectrum and those with intellectual disabilities. While working with this population, she witnessed how vital emotional regulation and mental health support are, and how meaningful it is when therapy truly meets people where they are.
This experience inspired her to pursue her Masters in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Liberty University. Today, Shimya is a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate at Lifeologie Counseling Frisco, where she is dedicated to walking alongside clients as they work toward healing and growth. Her client focus includes children, teens, and adults, with specialties in Autism Spectrum Disorders, ADHD, intellectual disabilities, anxiety, depression, life transitions, and stress management.
style and approach
Shimya’s warm and compassionate presence allows clients to feel comfortable opening up and flourishing at their own pace. She is especially passionate about helping children develop coping skills, build self-awareness, and foster resilience. She also provides a safe outlet for individuals of all ages to express themselves, process challenges, and discover practical strategies for growth.
She tailors her approach to each client’s unique needs, creating an affirming, non-judgmental space where people feel safe to be themselves. Shimya enjoys incorporating creative approaches—such as play therapy—that make the process engaging and meaningful. She offers a healing experience rooted in authenticity, empathy, and genuine connection, where emotional expression is encouraged and clients feel truly seen and heard. Shimya’s goal for each client is to create supportive, accessible spaces that honor each person’s unique needs and strengths, while offering care that truly works for them.
Shimya helps clients explore their thoughts and feelings, discover their strengths, and move toward their goals so they can uncover their wholeness, live with freedom, and build practical tools to thrive in daily life.
