who performs your psychological tests?

Licensed School Psychologist Alicia Ash conducts evaluations and offers coaching for executive functioning, focusing on children ages 4-22.  With 10+ years of experience in school settings/clinical evaluations, etc., she brings patience, compassion, and expertise to her process. 

how can we prepare for testing?

No formal prep is needed, but we recommend:

• A full night’s sleep before testing
• A healthy breakfast in the morning
• Comfortable clothing
• A water bottle and lunch/snacks for breaks

does insurance cover testing?

Insurance does not typically cover testing costs for educational purposes. Each evaluation is individualized based on a client's particular needs and goals. 

should we consider private testing?

Public schools may identify and evaluate children with learning disabilities when students are having visible difficulties. However, there may be long wait times, the scope and depth of school testing resources may be limited, and children who do not appear to be struggling academically may not be referred for testing. A private evaluation with our licensed counselors means you’ll receive the most comprehensive, current evaluation available, which can be tailored to your specific areas of concern. 

how long does testing take?

Initial interviews and information-gathering sessions typically last 60-90 minutes, and testing typically occurs in 2-hour blocks, depending on the referral or reason for evaluation. 

what can we expect after testing?

Two to four weeks after testing is completed, our evaluator will meet with clients and their parents to provide a comprehensive written report detailing the test results and diagnostic findings, and discuss next steps. Results will include:

• A comprehensive, tailored report
• Actionable recommendations for guidance at home and school, including IEP recommendations and support
• Information about community resources and follow-up steps if needed
