Get to know Ashley

Ashley Wolffarth specializes in trauma counseling and believes in a “bottom-up approach”. She is trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing EMDR and often uses her 200hr Yoga Teacher training in therapeutic settings. In addition, she frequently works with clients who are struggling with attachment trauma, grief, depression, anxiety, life transitions, gender and LGBTQ+ concerns. She is also passionate about working with veterans, first responders and frontline healthcare workers.

During her graduate program she interned at an agency that provided counseling to survivors of sexual assault and childhood abuse. She also provided Equine Assisted Counseling to veterans and their families. While she still utilizes all she learned during these experiences, she has yet to figure out how to get a donkey into a counseling office.

Ashley is a Navy brat and both of her parents served in the US Navy. Ashley understands first-hand what it is like to search for life’s meaning and find your place in the world. As a teenager and young adult, she struggled to find ways to cope with her anxiety and depression and discovered yoga and counseling. Ashley has walked her own path of healing and believes that it is her honor and privilege to walk with others as they heal and grow.

Ashley believes that all people have within themselves an innate instinct towards growth. She believes that all people are designed to survive and connect with others, and each relationship has the capacity to be a healing relationship. Trauma can shape how we view ourselves and the world; Ashley believes healing begins when clients explore their inner strength and find fierce self-compassion within themselves. Ashley provides a warm and empathetic space for clients to learn new tools and discover an authentic way to live their lives with joy and peace. She also believes in the power of humor and self-love as a radical act.

Ashley received a BS in Integrative Studies, with a focus on Psychology, Counseling and Gender Studies from the University of North Texas. She has continued her studies at UNT, earning her Master’s in Counseling, and currently seeking her PhD in Counselor Education and Supervision.

When she is not counseling, Ashley enjoys hot yoga, watching Netflix, and listening to too many true crime podcasts. She loves to spend time with her Labrador named Toast, who also enjoys watching Top Chef with his mom.
