Meeting You Where You Are

Therapist Chelsey Mead has spent more than a decade working with people who have experienced intimate partner violence, exploitation, and trafficking. Her professional journey is defined by a commitment to helping people navigate challenging life experiences and their aftermath. Over the course of her career, Chelsey has worked in roles including crisis response, supporting individuals through trauma, and developing programs to educate others on these critical issues. She also provides support for children, adolescents, and adults facing mental health challenges, including anxiety, depression, trauma, LGBTQ+ issues, and chronic illness and pain. She is dedicated to honoring each person’s unique starting point, whether they are seeking counseling for the very first time or continuing their healing journey.

She’s (probably) the right fit for you, if…

  • You’re looking for someone to accept you for who you are, and compassionately hold you accountable to the changes you’re seeking.
  • You’re looking for support with anxiety, depression, or hurts and disappointments that you can’t seem to get past.
  • You wonder if certain experiences in your life are impacting how you show up for yourself and others.
  • You notice you keep making similar choices that may not serve you anymore.
  • You feel stuck or hopeless and aren’t sure where to start.

Understanding Your Story

Chelsey holds three main things to be true for her clients:
You have a story worthy of being heard. Understanding that story, and how you experience your role within it, can greatly impact your capacity for healing.
2. Healing is always possible, and it often takes time. With a therapy practice grounded in narrative therapy principles, Chelsey will work with you to explore and better understand your story, identify and shift unhelpful patterns, and gain a deeper sense of self-awareness and recognition of your own strength.
3. Life is not the Trauma Olympics. Your experiences and feelings are valid, regardless of how they might measure up to what someone else has gone through. You are worthy of a supportive and healing-focused environment where you feel safe, heard, and respected.

Moving Towards Hope

Chelsey believes in the power of our resilience, even after the most difficult experiences. She understands that it’s never too late to move towards hope, no matter how bleak or uncertain things may seem right now. Healing is a process and seemingly small steps can lead to profound changes over time. Chelsey recognizes that each person holds their own unique identities, needs, and goals for counseling. She will tailor her approach and strive to make counseling a comfortable and empowering experience.

Connection and Comfort

Chelsey is currently completing her Masters in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Walden University. Outside of her work, she values connection and creativity, finding joy in activities that recharge and inspire her. She enjoys being active, experimenting with new recipes, reading, and spending quality time with family.
