Get to know Christopher

An LPC and Supervisor with more than 27 years of experience. Chris has been an invaluable member of the Lifeologie team since 2006. He’s our go-to for trauma, PTSD, complex PTSD, major depression, long lasting anxiety, out of control anger, borderline personality, narcissistic personality, athletes, and abuse recovery. A specialty of his are individuals who grew up in a chaotic home and now struggle to manage life years later.

Beyond just being trained, he is a certified EMDR clinician – and if you don’t know about EMDR, click here and read up. EMDR is a highly tested technique which uses neuropsychological and structural components of the brain to treat trauma, depression, complex anxiety and a number of other severe issues. Chris will frequently incorporate CBT and Inner Family Systems (IFS) into his sessions as well.

With the help of EMDR, Chris can assist athletes and other high performers with the “yips”. More specifically, when a routine action is no longer routine, or if there has been a dramatic drop in performance, there may be an underlying event or stressor causing the problem. A trauma-based approach can often uncover, correct, and help the athlete return to full form within a few sessions.

Hear what Chris has to say about treating the “yips” in his blog here.

Often nearby a ‘yipped up’ performer is a parent. When needed, he can guide these parents into a more effective support role. He understands the struggle. (Scroll to the bottom blurb about his personal life.)

Chris has a knack for working with young professionals, age 20-30ish, who are trying to adjust to a real job, real relationship, first time parenting, professional success, and “Is this really what I want to do the rest of my life?” Closely related, he can help with college difficulties of all kinds – from mild homesickness to severe functional issues.

Chris launched Lifeologie into our work with First Responders and Veterans. He has great appreciation for both professions and the liberties they afford his family.  He can help lessen the pain of responders’ compounded trauma, as well as the vicarious trauma experienced by the families that love ‘em.

He received both his Bachelor’s and Master's degrees in Psychology from Baylor University. He spent quality years working in a variety of clinical settings with adolescents and adults. His clinical experience ranges from the ROPES course and corporate trainings to juvenile probation to psychiatric hospitals to private practice. Well-rounded is an apt description!

Chris grew up in a small town south of the metroplex. He maintains an active, but relaxed, lifestyle with his wife of 30+ years and two daughters. He’s currently empty nesting and has his weekends back, but for awhile he endured two teenagers under one roof at the same time. Furthermore, both daughters were competitive, multi-sport athletes and went on to compete at D1 programs. His street cred is solid.

If you can’t find Chris in the office, he is likely running a marathon or relaxing in his RV or both. He really does do this year around.
