Get to know Kate
Katie helps individuals, families, and couples (dating, engaged and married) acquire healthy communication and conflict resolution skills that will refine and deepen meaningful, enduring connections with self and others. Katie uses an emotionally focused approach to help her clients examine emotions, family systems and attachment patterns. Through thoughtful exploration and careful awareness in a safe and compassionate environment, Katie believes growth and transformation are possible.
Katie learned the value of being heard and validated at eight years old while participating in therapy with her family as they dealt with her father’s leukemia diagnosis. However, it wasn’t until after raising her three children that she chose to pursue her counseling degree. She received her Master’s of Science in Marriage and Family Therapy from Southern Methodist University. She is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist-Associate under the supervision of Melanie Wells LPC-S, LMFT-S. Katie is also trained in PREPARE/ENRICH, Safe Conversations, Emotionally Focused Therapy Level 1 and Gottman Level 1. In addition, she holds a BA in Sociology from Baylor University.
Katie spends her free time cooking, traveling, hiking with her dog, Finn, biking, enjoying time with her family and working puzzles.
