Get to know Mary
Mary Helen works with individuals, couples, and families who are experiencing anxiety, depression, grief, trauma, relationship conflict, pregnancy and infertility problems, postpartum issues, sexual issues, and spiritual concerns.
She believes people cannot truly love, or allow themselves to be loved in return if they do not first find a way to love themselves. Fundamentally, people can become wounded because of relationships, which in-turn, adversely affects how they interpret their own meaning and attachment to the world and others. However, as people grow in awareness and caring for themselves, they can begin to heal in relationships just the same. This is accomplished by working through those past wounds which tend to manifest in and become the present behaviors and intentions that harm self and others.
Mary Helen’s therapeutic approach is to welcome clients to come as they are as she sits alongside them while they unpack their wounds. She holds space for clients that is filled with unconditional positive regard, warmth, and safety. A large part of why Mary Helen became a therapist is because she believes in the healing nature of sharing space with another human being, allowing oneself to be truly known; yet still accepted and cared for.
