Get to know Samantha

Samantha Moore prides herself on providing a relaxed, safe environment in each counseling session, so people can be themselves. Samantha believes that being yourself and opening up with your therapist will help ensure you get closer to your life’s goals!

Samantha grew up as an “Army brat” and moved around several times before her family settled in Fayetteville, NC. The most interesting place she lived in was Hawaii but was unfortunate enough to be too young to remember any of it. Moving around so much, Samantha had a hard time fitting in with her peers. Moving from North Carolina to New York was hard difficult, which resulted in being frequently bullied by other children. Experiencing hardships, transitions, and feeling like an outsider is what led Samantha on a career path toward counseling. She knew at age 12 years old that she wanted to help others and become a counselor. As a result, Samantha has a big heart for others, especially those who are in their formative middle school and high school years.

Samantha studied Psychology and minored in Women’s Studies at Mars Hill University in 2014 where she was involved in several volunteer positions, including working with elementary students, a homeless shelter, a food pantry, and an after-school program called “Girls on the Run” which helped young girls build self-esteem and healthy habits. In 2017 she completed her master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. In August 2021 Samantha became Licensed as a Clinical Mental Health Counselor (LCMHC). She has a particular interest in gender and sexuality and has been very privileged to work with members of the LGBTQIA+ community. It is her goal to provide a safe space where people can grow into their authentic selves.

Samantha has experience with both community-based care and outpatient therapy. She has worked with a variety of people with many different diagnoses and situations. She has counseled people experiencing depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, trauma, personality disorders, and self-esteem issues. It is her goal to help people face each challenge with support and compassion. Samantha primarily uses Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and likes to explore meaning with clients. She also has training in Gottman methods for relationship care, repair, and maintenance.

Samantha is very passionate about helping others! She even played a Cleric (a healer) in Dungeons and Dragons. She is currently looking to work with teens, adults, and couples. Samantha believes it is a privilege to work with people on their journey of building a meaningful life. Samantha hopes to help you understand yourself better and that you feel “seen”, as a result of working with her.

When Samantha is not working, she enjoys artistic hobbies such as paper crafting, crochet, and painting. She also enjoys reading and annoying her husband. She also like to obsess over one TV show at a time and form emotional attachments to fictional characters. When there isn’t a pandemic, Samantha enjoys trips to Disney World.
