Get to know Lauren

Lauren Murphy specializes in trauma and abuse recovery, play therapy, and dissociative disorders  – particularly dissociative identity disorder. She also works with a variety of additional concerns or struggles, including attention deficit differences both in children and adults, identity and sexuality, and divorce recovery.

Lauren works in the Oak Cliff office. She is a Licensed Professional Counselor, a clinical fellow of the American Counseling Association, and recognized by the National Board for Certified Counselors.

After growing up in upstate New York in a family of creatives, Lauren attended Oberlin Conservatory for music performance and continues to perform in the DFW area as a professional musician. Lauren moved to Texas and began her master’s degree in music performance at University of North Texas. However, she found herself drawn to the mental health programs on campus as she re-discovered the widespread anxiety and addiction prevalent in the music world. In response to these realizations, Lauren transferred into the mental health program and now holds a master’s in science for Clinical Mental Health. She continues to develop her musical growth and now speaks at many colleges nationally regarding “Mental Health for the Performing Artist.” Lauren believes deeply in the healing power of music and creativity.
