Get to know Melissa

Sometimes when we can’t see our path forward, it can be helpful to slow down, take a long deep breath and look around us for the next small step. If you’re looking for someone to walk with you through these tough curveballs or obstacles in life, Melissa is your person!

Melissa has over 7 years of experience in mental health and specializes in areas of anxiety, depression, substance use, and trauma work with adults and older teens. She understands the importance of finding new and more effective tools to add to your toolbox, and she’s here to help you on your healing journey. Melissa is also passionate about including holistic approaches like mindfulness in the therapeutic relationship and can teach you how invaluable these skills can be for everyday challenges.

Melissa has her CAADC (a lot of letters that mean she has specialized training in working with substance use disorders); she also has experience in many treatment approaches from cognitive processing therapy to Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT). Most importantly, she values the relationship between herself and her clients, as this is where the best tools are found.

After spending time with Melissa, it’ll feel like you were hugged by your favorite person; she brings warmth, compassion, and safety into all of her relationships.

Melissa grew up in a small town on the East side of the state, but after attending Grand Valley State University for her Masters degree, she fell in love with city life and is now a firm believer that the Westside is the best side!

When she’s not sipping coffee or meeting with clients, you can find Melissa reading a good thriller (paperback books only!), or spending time with her husband, young daughter, and of course her first baby, her dog Tyson! Melissa also participates in a local community of naturopathic healers in her free time.  Give her a call, she can’t wait to help support you on this journey!
