Get to know Tanya

Tanya Wilson earned her Bachelors in Fine Arts from the University of Texas at Arlington and is currently finishing her Masters of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Grand Canyon University. Prior to pursuing her career in the mental health field, Tanya worked as an elementary school art teacher and a missionary in South America. She sees adolescents, adults and couples, and specializes in working with individuals with a history of trauma, relationship issues, and problematic sexual behaviors.

Dr. Gabor Maté begs the question, “not why the addiction, but why the pain?”

And as our source of pain is linked to our lived experience, beginning in childhood, Tanya believes a compassionate and empathetic approach to counseling is vital. She utilizes attachment theory, emotion-focused therapy, and somatic practices to help clients find and address root causes of pain and move towards healing and authentic living.

Tanya was born and raised in Oregon, and became a Texas transplant when she married her husband in 2006. She enjoys spending time with her daughter and husband, painting, traveling, and having deep conversations with friends over good food and wine.
