Get to know Bobby

Bobby Hill holds a Master of Education degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling (2023) from North Carolina State University and is a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor Associate in North Carolina.

Bobby believes every challenge has a solution, which lies within the person experiencing the challenge. Life is to be fully lived; if you are not fully living your life, it could be because of distractions and stress. Distractions and stress sometimes cause us to feel overwhelmed, unhappy, frustrated, and sometimes empty. When those distractions impact our quality of life, seeking counseling to help navigate the distractions and stress may become necessary.

Bobby is here to offer a judgment-free space for expression and provide an atmosphere that promotes safety, vulnerability, empowerment, and growth for clients. Counseling can have both benefits and risks. The risks may include experiencing uncomfortable feelings, such as but not limited to sadness, guilt, anxiety, anger, frustration, loneliness, and helplessness, because counseling requires the client to talk in-depth about unpleasant and or challenging aspects of their life. The benefit can be outcomes such as but not limited to, a deep understanding of self, learning effective personal and interpersonal coping strategies, and a more improved and healthier outlook on yourself and your life.

Bobby works with tweens (11 years old to 13 years old), adolescents/teenagers (14 years old to 17 years old), adults (age 18 and older) in small groups, individuals, and couples who are experiencing life challenges or distractions related to a range of concerns, including transition, adjustment, stress, anxiety, depression, self-care and wellness, self-esteem, relationship concerns, men's issues, identity concerns, cultural concerns, body image and more. Bobby's theoretical orientation is based on an Integrative Psychotherapy perspective, incorporating Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Solution-focused counseling, Gestalt therapy, Humanistic psychology, and more interventions to meet your specific needs.

Bobby's primary goal is to utilize techniques that will best fit individual client's needs and allow him/her/they to reach his/her/their goals successfully. Establishing rapport is essential to the work that the client and the therapist will be doing together. In doing so, Bobby believes every client is unique and requires an individualized approach to meet their goals. In his counseling services, Bobby seeks to invoke his clients to internalize situations in a healthy context and provide a safe and confidential environment conducive to encouraging self-awareness, self-reflection, self-regulation, and self-correction. Therapy is a relationship shared between two people, and therapy works partly because of clearly defined rights and responsibilities held by each person. Bobby will work hard with each client to establish a foundation built on the three R's - respect, relevance, and recognition.

Bobby is a school counselor and a volunteer basketball coach outside of private counseling. His life joys come from raising his twin daughters, reading, traveling, and learning from others' experiences and perspectives. Bobby also loves living an active lifestyle by engaging in activities like playing sports, nature walks, ATV riding, riding rollercoasters, and enjoying peace in healthy solitude.
