Get to know Christy

Christy spent the last twenty years in human resources, with an emphasis on building talent teams for large corporations across the United States. Her career centered on helping people with both their professional and personal challenges, which utilized her existing passion for empathic listening and bringing out the best in others. Throughout her entire career, Christy felt a calling to counseling and with the support of her family and friends, finally made the decision to go back to school. 

Along with a bachelor’s degree in sociology from the University of Texas at Dallas, she recently completed her master’s degree in clinical mental health counseling from LeTourneau University. 

Throughout Christy’s life, she has experienced many life challenges including relational conflicts, grief and loss, chronic pain, illness, depression, and anxiety and also strongly believes that hope, faith, and love are alive and can be found even in the darkest of situations. Christy provides a safe, nonjudgmental environment for clients to approach their emotions and concerns to work toward healing and wholeness. 

Christy Becker offers in-office appointments in Richardson, as well as teletherapy. Her specialty is with teens and young adults, adults, and couples. Her counseling approach includes a combination of Person Centered Therapy, Solution-Focused techniques, mindfulness, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) skills. 

Christy grew up in the Plano area and married her high school sweetheart. She and her husband have a son that recently went off to college. When not working, she enjoys spending time with family and friends. This includes going to watch her son’s musical performances, taking long walks, traveling, and spending time with her family at the lake.
