Get to know Courtney

As a former kindergarten teacher and youth leader, Courtney Michelle has served several years helping kids, teens, and young adults work through various challenges such as anxiety, depression, self-harm, suicidal thoughts, sexual abuse, living in a low-income community, and other relational concerns. She also enjoys working with families to provide mental health psychoeducation, help each member understand the importance of a healthy mind, increase family cohesion, and build healthy bonds within the home.

As Courtney’s passion for counseling grew, she decided to pursue her Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, leading her to move to Texas, where she graduated from the University of North Texas at Dallas.

Courtney became inspired to enter the world of counseling in 2012 after receiving her Bachelor’s in Interdisciplinary Social Sciences from the University of South Florida. She became a teacher and spent the majority of her spare time volunteering as a youth leader at a local church, where she developed a deep awareness of the mental health struggles of the youth population.

Courtney explains, “I love working with the younger generations because I feel that they are often overlooked and ignored because they are young. When I was a teen, many people described my challenges as a “phase,” but I always wondered, even if that were true, who was going to actually help me through the “phase.”

Courtney enjoys encouraging her clients to find their voice and advocate for their own mental health regardless of their age, and how other people may characterize the various things they are going through.

Courtney is a fun and friendly Floridian transplant! She has been a resident of Texas for nearly a decade with her family, friends and two cuddly dogs. Courtney was raised in Orlando, Florida where she often visits her exceptionally large and tight-knit family filled with countless siblings, nieces, nephews, and cousins. Talk about a fun crowd!

In her spare time, Courtney enjoys practicing self-care by attending her local church, running, practicing yoga, spending time with family, and brunching with friends.
