Get to know Dana

Seeking support and mental health treatment can feel like the monster under the bed. She looks forward to showing you that the monster under the bed is just a stigma and easy to defeat.

Dana is committed to assisting you create new routines and levels of discipline built around personal goals and values. She works with a diverse population (adults, veterans, and older and aging adults) dealing with widespread mental health issues such as depression, anxiety, autism, ADHD, binge eating, and other stress-induced conditions. Dana’s goal is to connect with those considering counseling or mental health support. She understands how experiences and roles impact life.

Dana considers her approach to counseling an eclectic one. Her treatment strategies are a mix of different theoretical approaches to balance mindful awareness and a genuine and empathic relationship with the client. Therapy with Dana is a collaborative effort that will help to identify what changes can be made to improve emotional regulation and interpersonal behaviors.

Dana Washington is a licensed clinical mental health counselor associate (LCMHCA). She earned her M.A. in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Wake Forest University and a B.S. in Social Science from the University of Maryland Global Campus.

Dana lives outside of Fayetteville, North Carolina but was raised in Maryland. She gained life experience through military service and travel. She has worn many hats during their military service. Her favorite hats were those donned when helping soldiers and their family members through life events. Helping turned into a passion, and Dana chose to pursue it in the form of counseling. She served in the Army for twelve and a half years and made the hard decision to step away from the military in 2020 to be more available for her family and community.
