Get to know Dylan

My name is Dylan Hernandez. I was born in 1991 and raised in Cedar Hill, Texas. Through my experience of being a camp counselor and youth minister, I heard a calling to get into counseling. I already had a solid foundation of working with children and families, I figured I could apply my skills that I learned in working with families and children and apply them to working with different populations of people. I have a heart for helping others and want to help make a change and difference in their lives. I want to help people feel like they do have power over their problems and that they have the tools to make changes in their lives to live successful lives. I pride myself on listening to each client that I work with and I want to make each client feel heard and valued. I try my best to be as encouraging as possible towards my clients and help them achieve their goals.

I went to Howard Payne University, where I graduated in 2014 with a Bachelor of Arts. I went on to get my first master’s degree in Family Ministry from Hardin Simmons University in 2018. I am currently finishing my second master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Hardin Simmons University.  I currently work as Treatment Foster Care Case Coordinator at a foster care agency where I work with foster children and foster parents. The children that I work with have major behaviors and have been in the foster care system for a while and need nurturing homes to help them get to less restrictive settings. I want to use my skills to help people make changes in their lives. I am open to helping clients of all populations and backgrounds.

In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my beautiful fiancé and our 4-year-old daughter. We enjoy family dinner and going to movies and playing games together. I enjoy sports, especially the Cowboys and Rangers. I am a diehard fan of these teams. So, you know I will stick my clients through the good times and the not so good times. I have played guitar since I was 16. I am also a big fan of video games.
