Ed Wilkinson is a Clinical Intern who offers therapy for with adolescents and adults experiencing a wide range of mental health concerns, including suicidal ideation, depression, anxiety, stress, and bipolar disorder. As an emerging expressive arts therapist at Lifeologie Counseling Newton, Ed is uniquely interested in the ways creativity can support emotional exploration and healing.

He also supports clients who are navigating creative blocks or feeling uncertain about beginning an artistic practice, and helps experienced artists struggling with feelings of being stuck, uninspired, or burned out. Ed is deeply aware of the ways that social expectations, systemic barriers, and intersecting identities can shape a person’s experience of moving through the world. He welcomes the opportunity to support clients as they explore identity development, men’s issues, LGBTQ+ identities, and questions related to gender and sexuality.

Ed’s professional background is rooted in suicide prevention. He began his career as a crisis helpline responder and later went on to teach, train, and coach others in crisis response. He also supports clients experiencing grief and loss, life transitions, and the complex emotions that can arise when preparing for the end of life.

Ed is pursuing his Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling with a focus in Expressive Arts Therapy at Lesley University, where he previously earned his Bachelor’s in Expressive Arts Therapy. He believes that creativity is not about producing something “good,” but that art is there for us when we need it.

Ed takes a person-centered approach to therapy, seeking to understand the depth and complexity of each individual’s experiences while helping clients identify, explore, and work through the challenges they face. His work is grounded in creativity, mindfulness, and exploration of spiritual and existential concerns. He strives to help clients develop meaningful tools for coping, healing, and growth, with an emphasis on empowerment, connection, and finding a greater sense of meaning and authenticity.

Outside of the office, Ed cherishes spending time in arts communities, both witnessing and sharing creative work. In his own creative practice, he revels in working in mediums he’s less familiar with, and values the freedom to make mistakes, experiment, and embrace imperfection. He enjoys making silly little crafts, spending time in nature outside the city, and appreciating urban wildlife; particularly raccoons and pigeons.
