Get to know Fernando

Fernando Loredo is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) who specializes in addressing relationship distress within marriages and family systems. He works with individual adults and couples addressing many issues that impact relationships, including substance abuse and addictions, trauma, anxiety, depression, and multicultural challenges in mental health.

He has a deep desire to see healing from relational wounds and is encouraged when people are able to find joy in their most intimate relationships. His unique ability to create a safe space and introduce compassionate reframing with clients can often launch those journeys of restoration.

Fernando collaborates with his clients and uses a framework to guide their sessions forward.  Treatment is client-centered and goal-oriented. He often draws from Evidence-Based Practices such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Bowenian Family Therapy, Integrative Behavioral Couples Therapy, EFT, MI, and Gottman techniques.

Prior to working in private practice, Fernando worked for the VA in Houston, serving Veterans and their families members in recovery from trauma, substance abuse, and relationship distress. He provided individual, couples, family, and group therapy in a clinical setting.

The trials of life vary for us all and what happens “behind the curtain” of our lives can sometimes weigh too heavy for one to bear alone. That is why in every session Fernando has always been humbled and honored by the invitation of so many to briefly step “behind the curtain” and walk alongside them as they press on. A core belief that we were never meant to walk alone in life is foundational to his work.

Being born and raised in Houston allowed Fernando to greatly appreciate diversity and cultures from all over.  Later in life, his faith and love for adventure led him to live on the opposite side of the world for almost a decade.  He and his family consider themselves tri-cultural and love to explore new places around the world. Free time these days might be spent rock climbing with his kids, biking, enjoying reading some of his favorite authors like C.S. Lewis, Kierkegaard, or A.W. Tozer, or playing card games as a family. When he’s not in session or hanging out with his wife and kids, Fernando also loves to teach and give lectures on an array of topics or just sit, listen, and encourage dear friends over a good meal.
