Get to know Joshua

Joshua Parker is a devoted, determined, and detailed Marine Corps veteran who became impassioned about helping others after overcoming his own mental health challenges. Joshua specializes in young men's issues, monogamous couples, and families who require services or are experiencing challenges in Christian living/spiritual formation, life transitions, boundary setting, career counseling, stress management/work-life rhythm, trauma, depression, anxiety, suicidal ideation, pre-marital counseling, marital enrichment, blended family cohesion, infidelity, last-ditch/divorce support, and veterans who have recently transitioned into civilian life.

As an African American, Joshua also desires to decommission the barriers surrounding psychotherapy, using his own experience to become both a beacon of hope and an advocate for the African American community. Joshua is currently completing his Master’s degree through Dallas Theological Seminary, where upon completion and licensure he intends to pursue a PhD in Marriage and Family Therapy.

He believes counseling should not only take a holistic approach to addressing the everyday person (mind, body, and soul), but also strive to create a therapeutic alliance that promotes healing the relational bonds in one’s everyday life (internal, external, and environmental).
Joshua utilizes a multi-layered theoretic approach that includes Internal Family Systems (IFS), Gottman Method, Emotional Focused Therapy (EFT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and a dose of laughter to achieve a level of individual and relational wholeness with you at the center.
