Laura Krishna creates a welcoming and supportive environment for her clients, fostering a therapeutic alliance built on warmth, genuine care, and understanding. Laura supports adolescents, adults, and families who may be navigating the challenges of anxiety, depression, grief, stress, trauma, or PTSD. She also specializes in working with women who are navigating pregnancy, infertility, loss, and postpartum depression. She also enjoys working with couples, including those seeking premarital counseling.
Laura recognizes and responds to her clients’ emotions with care and empathy, providing the support they need to heal, grow, and transform their lives. Laura understands that life can be filled with challenges and that oftentimes, clients need someone to walk with them in order to achieve healing and continue to thrive.
Style and Approach
Laura believes all people have natural ways of engaging with the world around them to find who they are and how they fit. Whether through love, friendships, work, faith, or personal growth, she recognizes the universal human desires for belonging, competence, and significance.
In therapy, Laura offers a collaborative space to explore beliefs, experiences, and relationships while working together to create meaningful change. She tailors her approach to each client, helping to clarify goals, develop practical skills, and foster repair and growth for greater fulfillment in life.
Professional Journey
Laura’s career began in education, earning her Bachelor’s degree from the University of Texas at Austin. She spent over a decade teaching toddlers through middle school students and later completed a Master’s in Educational Administration and Supervision at the University of Houston.
Her passion for supporting families and children led her to serve as a preschool director at her church, where she worked closely with young children, their families, and staff. Throughout her educational journey, Laura felt a growing desire to provide counseling and deeper support for individuals, teens, and families. She is now pursuing a Master’s in Counseling at Southern Methodist University and is excited to continue her work in this field.
Fun Facts
Laura’s story began in Missouri, but she got to Texas as quickly as she could (at age 6)! She has lived in Houston and the Dallas areas for the majority of her life. Married for more than 22 years, Laura cherishes her intercultural marriage with her husband and their beautiful family. This unique blend of cultures has not only enriched her personal life but also deepened her understanding of navigating cultural differences. Laura also treasures her role as a mom to two incredible teenagers and loves watching them grow into the amazing adults they’re destined to be. Whether traveling with her family, playing cards and board games, cheering on her favorite football teams, or jamming out to music, Laura’s happiest when surrounded by her loved ones. When she craves a little "me time," she loves to unwind with a great book and enjoy the quiet moments.
