Get to know Lauren
Lauren Murphy specializes in play therapy, addictions, and dissociative disorders – particularly dissociative identity disorder. She also works with a variety of other issues, including women’s issues, codependency, attention deficit differences, and divorce recovery.
Lauren works in the Oak Cliff office. She is a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate. She is a clinical fellow of the American Counseling Association and is recognized by the National Board for Certified Counselors.
After growing up in upstate New York in a family of musicians, Lauren attended Oberlin Conservatory for music performance and continues to perform in the DFW area as a professional musician. Lauren moved to Texas and began her master’s degree in music performance at University of North Texas. However, she found herself drawn to the mental health programs on campus as she re-discovered the widespread anxiety and addiction prevalent in the music world. In response to these realizations, Lauren transferred into the mental health program and now holds a master’s in science for Clinical Mental Health. She continues to develop her musical growth and now speaks at many colleges nationally regarding “Mental Health for the Performing Artist.”
Lauren is currently the director of music at Holy Trinity by the Lake Episcopal Church in Rockwall, Texas. She also sings for a handful of professional ensembles throughout Texas and believes deeply in the healing power of music and creativity.
Lauren also helps with Addiction, Adulting, Anxiety & Stress, Child & Play Therapy, Grief and Loss, Teens / tweens, Trauma / PTSD, Drug and Alcohol Abuse, Performance Anxiety related to the Arts, Self-Esteem
