Get to know Maddison

Maddison (Maddi) specializes in working with children in child play therapy, children and adults struggling with anxiety and/or depression, and loves to help young adults/professionals who are navigating difficult transitions throughout their lifespan.  She believes in the importance of bringing empathy, compassion, and kind heartedness into the therapy room.  Maddi also believes that a strong and loyal therapeutic alliance is one of the most important aspects and protective factors for all clients who are seeking therapy.  Maddi is passionate about working with many different individuals including those who are grieving, may have experienced difficult traumas, those with special needs, or who may be experiencing codependency and do not know where to go next.

Maddi is a native Texan and grew up in the DFW area.  She has also lived in California and Connecticut.  She earned a Bachelor’s degree from Texas Christian University in Speech Language Pathology, and is currently pursuing her Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Southern Methodist University.  Maddi is also diligently working on publishing her first academic paper in a Group Counseling Journal with a professor from her master’s Program.  This paper contains information about the effectiveness of Music Therapy in Group Counseling for children and adults who are in active bereavement.

When she is not seeing client’s, Maddi likes to write music, read, journal, cook, spend time with her dogs, and spend time with her husband.  She also loves to run, swim, and exercise during her free time.
