Get to know Michael
Michael Matthew Rogers’ determination to help others discover their own superpowers and strength in the darkest times of their lives is key to his therapeutic approach at Lifeologie Counseling Hampton Roads, where he provides encouragement and support for children, teens, and adults. Michael specializes in working with children who have experienced abuse and with adolescents and adults experiencing anxiety, anger, addictive behaviors, body image concerns, bullying, depression, trauma, grief, life transitions, and men’s issues. As a United States Marine Corps veteran, he also understands the unique experiences of veterans, including crisis survival and Post Traumatic Stress.
Michael incorporates Person-Centered Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Solution Focused Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), motivational interviewing, and mindfulness techniques into his approach. He feels blessed with the gifts of both empathy and curiosity, which gives him an open mind to listen to and understand clients’ experiences. He provides a safe, no-judgment zone that empowers his clients to begin therapy, which he emphasizes is a team process toward healing from the very start.
Michael received his Bachelor’s in Psychology and is currently completing his Master’s in Clinical Counseling from Liberty University. He was inspired to become a therapist after living through difficult experiences that left him to find his own hope and power. He wants to help others who feel defeated and alone find joy and perspective, and believes our trauma does not define us. As a motivational coach, life coach, and counselor, Michael encourages his clients to rewrite their own story of healing and success.
In his free time, Michael enjoys watching and playing sports, outdoor activities, weightlifting, karate, outdoor activities, building Legos, gaming, tattoos, and traveling.
