Get to know Shaina

From a young age, Shaina Cheever knew she wanted to help others “behind the scenes” to flourish and accomplish their goals. She is familiar with the anxiety of taking the step to try counseling, and has personally found therapy to be a safe place to process things in her own life. Shaina sees individuals struggling with anxiety, depression, grief, and stress, and couples seeking premarital & marriage counseling. She uses her creativity to customize therapy for each client (or couple) in their unique situation, using multiple theories, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, and Attachment Therapy. Shaina has completed Level 1 Training in Gottman Method Couples Therapy.

One of Shaina’s passions is helping those who are experiencing spiritual abuse and distress, and she welcomes clients from any belief system.  She has experience with Christian counseling, but will only use this point of view if the client explicitly asks for it.  Shaina sees herself as an equal to her clients, and prioritizes developing a therapeutic relationship that is safe, accepting, and trustworthy. She believes every human has a story containing unique challenges they must navigate, and knows that some challenges can leave us feeling broken, alone, and stuck. Therapy is the most helpful tool to move through these challenges. See what Shaina has to say about the benefits of grief counseling in her blog here

Shaina received her Bachelor of Arts in History and Biblical Studies from Dallas Baptist University and completed her Master of Arts in Professional Counseling at Amberton University. Shaina loves drinking coffee and spending time with her friends and family. In her free time, she enjoys going on walks, trying new restaurants, and watching TV with her cat!
