Get to know Elaina
Elaina Beittel is a dedicated counseling intern at Lifeologie Counseling Raleigh who is passionate about working with people of all ages and backgrounds, and is especially adept at helping children and adolescents exposed to trauma and violence develop their social and emotional skills.
She also helps clients navigate anxiety, depression, stress, caregiving, LGBTQ+ concerns, and career issues. As Elaina identifies as a queer woman, she recognizes the importance of creating a safe and affirming environment for her clients to explore their identity, sexuality, and gender. By utilizing Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Elaina is able to assist her clients in identifying and managing negative thought patterns and behaviors, as well as developing coping skills and problem-solving strategies. Additionally, Elaina strives to continue using her identity as a mental health practitioner to advocate for and support her clients in ways that best meet their needs.
Elaina is currently pursuing her Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at North Carolina State University. She earned Bachelor’s degrees in Psychology and in Political Science at the University of Rochester, where she worked as an after-school care counselor for children at the Mount Hope Family Center. She also had the opportunity to work at the Boys and Girls Club. These two experiences helped expose her to children with a wide range of needs and backgrounds, and solidified her wish to provide a safe and caring environment for children and adolescents to explore their thoughts and feelings.
These experiences fostered her love and desire to help people, starting at a young age. Therefore, she strives to create a person-centered, holistic counseling environment to provide clients with a safe, nonjudgmental environment to explore their thoughts, feelings, identities, and systems impacting them in their everyday life. She believes in individualizing care to the person, as everyone is different with unique needs and experiences. Therefore, working together, she and her clients can create personalized plans and goals centered around their own therapeutic journey.
In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her friends, family, and her adorable cat, Piper. She especially loves getting together with her friends and playing board games or taking long walks in nature. She believes that one of the best ways to cure a bad day is to get outside with loved ones and take a walk. She also enjoys reading, watching TV, cooking, and baking. She often spends her time binge-watching whatever show is her current fixation, while working on a new craft she will likely never finish.
