Get to know Elias
Elias Mohr is a Counselor Intern earning his Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at North Carolina Central University. With a warm and intuitive presence, Elias specializes in supporting individuals and couples navigating grief, anxiety, identity development, relational challenges, and life transitions. His work is informed by a deep understanding of gender, sexuality, and the unique experiences of LGBTQ+ individuals and non-traditional families.
A session with Elias is thoughtful, curious, and gently challenging when needed. His approach is grounded in relational-cultural and narrative frameworks, integrating mindfulness and meaning-making to help clients explore their inner world and build a more authentic and connected life. He places a strong emphasis on emotional safety and collaborative exploration, meeting clients where they are and honoring the complexity of their lived experience.
Elias is especially passionate about helping clients work through grief and complicated loss, explore identity, deepen self-awareness, and strengthen relationships. He enjoys working with couples and families, whether they are separating, divorced, navigating blended dynamics, or seeking to repair and deepen their bond. He believes that meaningful change is possible at any stage of a relationship and values creating space for honest communication, emotional insight, and mutual understanding.
In addition to his clinical training, Elias brings years of experience in writing, teaching, and supporting others in reflective work. He has a longstanding interest in religious symbolism, ritual, and spiritual development as tools for making meaning and finding purpose. These threads often inform his work with clients who are searching for clarity, connection, or deeper alignment with their values.
When he’s not counseling, Elias enjoys long walks with his dogs, exploring new cities, cooking, and curating music playlists for friends and family. He believes laughter, stillness, and small rituals can all be part of a healing life.
