Get to know Saundra

Saundra Monroe, LPC-S, primarily sees children and adolescents ages 3-18 in individual sessions, groups, and family settings. Saundra earned her main clinical experience in Children’s Advocacy Centers in Collin and Kaufman Counties, where she worked with children and families who were survivors of abuse experiencing symptoms caused by trauma, abuse, neglect, and domestic violence. She also worked in private practice focusing on adolescents struggling with depression, anxiety, and LGBTQ+ issues.

Saundra has been trained in evidence-based therapy models including Parent-Child CARE (PC-CARE), TF-CBT (Trauma Focused- Cognitive Behavioral Therapy), and Problematic Sexualized Behavior- Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (PSB-CBT) and EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing). She truly believes that there is not a one size fits all process to therapy and integrates methods from multiple treatment modalities to best serve the needs of her clients.

Saundra knew from an early age that she wanted to be a therapist one day. She spent her childhood supporting her friends until she was able to begin her studies in psychology at Oklahoma State University. From there she went on to earn a Master of Science in Counseling and Development from Texas Woman’s University.

Saundra’s priority for her clients is their mental health care, whether it is with her or someone else. She partners with her clients to create a safe space where healing can occur through authenticity and empathy, and enjoys walking beside clients through life’s challenges to help them learn to cope and make changes to better their quality of life.

Outside of therapy, Saundra is a wife to a wonderful, supportive husband who works as a special education teacher. They share a passion of supporting people through life’s challenges and working toward better days. Saundra and her husband have 2 boys who are a little wild and all-around silly.  Saundra has a large, blended family all over Texas and the world. She enjoys crocheting, doing her own nails, and attending sporting events (her children’s or otherwise). She loves walking her two dogs, Maverick and Pete who represent mascots from her two favorite towns (Dallas and Stillwater, OK.)
