Get to know Haulek

Are you feeling stuck, apathetic, angry, struggling with depression or anxiety, or seeking a collaborative approach to medication management? Haulek Tawmging, Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP), is passionate about working with teens and young adults navigating life transitions, feeling stuck, or seeking help for the first time after years of struggling alone.

Haulek particularly enjoys working with children and adolescents, recognizing that early intervention can prevent significant future pain, while also appreciating the autonomy and self-awareness that adult clients bring to their healing journey. She specializes in postpartum depression, PTSD, depression, and anxiety, taking a comprehensive approach that includes investigating potential medical causes through lab work.

Haulek understands that most Americans will face at least one major mental health episode in their lives due to grief or loss, career changes, health issues, or other life challenges. She believes that if we maintain hope, we can move forward. With a collaborative and holistic approach, she integrates psychiatric medication management, lifestyle changes, and therapy to support lasting healing and growth for her clients at Lifeologie Counseling St. Johns.

Approach to Care

Haulek’s approach is collaborative and respectful. She acts as a guide, discussing psychiatric medication as a tool to ensure optimal outcomes. Understanding the powerful connection between nutrition, lifestyle, and mental health, Haulek works particularly well with clients who are open to making lifestyle changes in conjunction with their medication management. She highly recommends concurrent therapy and takes time to thoroughly evaluate each client.

Her favorite part of what she does is when patients return visibly brighter and tell her they feel like themselves again and are able to find joy again in their former interests.

With 10 years of experience as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, Haulek has served patients across multiple states. She pursued nursing specifically to become a PMHNP, driven by her fascination with understanding how people make choices and how to support them in making the best decisions for their mental health. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing and Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) with a specialty in psychiatric mental health from the University of Florida. She is committed to staying current through continuous education and certifications.

Personal Experience

Caring for aging parents with a neurodegenerative disease has given Haulek deep insight into caregiver fatigue and the struggle with chronic health issues. She also knows the challenges and joys in being able to reclaim your life while caring for loved ones.

Raised in Gainesville, FL but coming from a multicultural background, Haulek is accepting and appreciative of different religious and political beliefs. As an Asian-American, this informs her ability to connect to issues of cultural adjustment and identity.

To practice what she preaches, she enjoys artistic outlets, sleep, Pilates, journaling, prayer, and food as her ways to maintain mental health. She is a proud aunt and enjoys her free time with her nieces and nephew.
