Get to know Raquel

Raquel Alcorta works with adults and couples who feel stuck, overwhelmed, or impacted by painful experiences and are seeking meaningful change. She supports clients navigating anxiety, depression, anger, stress, trauma, relationship conflict, infidelity, divorce, parenting challenges, and concerns related to self-esteem and self-worth. She also specializes in healing from religious trauma or spiritual abuse and offers Christian counseling for clients who want their faith thoughtfully integrated into therapy. Raquel provides culturally responsive care and works with Spanish-speaking clients in the Latino community at Lifeologie Counseling Dallas.

Raquel takes a collaborative, trauma-informed approach to counseling that is both compassionate and practical. She works at a pace that feels safe for clients, helping them understand the connection between their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors, while gently challenging patterns that no longer serve them. Sessions are structured yet flexible, blending insight, skill-building, and reflection so clients leave therapy with tools they can use in real-life situations, not just during sessions.

Raquel helps clients slow down and make sense of how past experiences, beliefs, and relationship patterns continue to affect their lives today. She utilizes EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) and insight-oriented therapy to support trauma healing, emotional regulation, and greater self-awareness, helping clients feel more grounded and confident in their daily lives.

When working with couples, Raquel provides structure, clarity, and evidence-based tools to help partners improve communication, rebuild trust, and deepen emotional connection. As a Gottman Level 3 trained therapist and Prepare/Enrich Premarital Facilitator, she helps couples understand their interaction patterns, manage conflict more effectively, and create shared meaning in their relationships—whether they are preparing for marriage or repairing after significant relational stress.

Raquel believes therapy should feel safe, supportive, and nonjudgmental while still encouraging growth. A Dallas native, she earned her Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Southern Methodist University and is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in Texas.

Outside of work, Raquel enjoys spending time outdoors, exploring state and national parks, appreciating nature and conservation, trying new cuisines, spending quality time with her husband and kids.
