Get to know Kate
Kate Carbocci is a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Associate (LCMHC-A) and Licensed School Counselor with a passion for working with children, adolescents, and adults navigating life’s most challenging seasons. She specializes in supporting clients through depression, anxiety, interpersonal relationship difficulties, career decisions, bullying, thoughts of self-harm, and the unique mental health challenges that encompass neurodiverse and LGBTQIA+ individuals.
Drawing on several years of experience as a high school counselor, Kate understands the pressures that teens and young people face today. That background, combined with her qualifications to support younger children and adults, allows her to meet clients across the lifespan with warmth, insight, and genuine care.
Kate’s therapeutic approach is integrative and thoughtfully blends person-centered therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), solution-focused brief therapy, and mindfulness techniques to create a collaborative environment where clients feel seen and supported. She is also trained in Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy, which focuses on somatic experiences and honors the mind-body connection by supporting the nervous system in processing and healing from trauma.
At the core of Kate’s work is a belief in emotional openness and vulnerability within the therapeutic relationship. She helps clients reach their personal goals in a supportive, nonjudgmental, and affirming environment, empowering them to recognize their potential to succeed and overcome obstacles and barriers along the way. She has extensive experience working with clients from diverse backgrounds and is committed to honoring each person's unique identity and lived experience.
She earned her Bachelor's in Psychology from New York University and her Master's of Education in Counseling from North Carolina State University. During her practicum and internship, Kate provided individual and group counseling services to high school students, supporting their social-emotional development and academic growth. As a high school counselor, she had the opportunity to work with a diverse community of staff, parents, and students, connecting them with mental health resources, financial support, crisis counseling, and deepening her commitment to showing up for people in their most vulnerable moments.
