Get to know Rebecca
Rebecca Tsopelas, LMHC, Clinical Director, specializes in trauma, depression, self-injurious/avoidance behaviors, anxiety, emotional dysregulation, and relationship challenges at Lifeologie Counseling Newton. She works with children, adolescents, young adults, adults, couples, and families using a trauma-informed and attachment-focused approach to care. Rebecca understands that many clients come to therapy feeling overwhelmed by impossible expectations, disconnected from themselves or others, and exhausted from constantly trying to “hold it together.”
Through compassionate, client-centered treatment approaches including DBT, Motivational Interviewing (MI), EMDR, and ARC, she helps clients strengthen emotional regulation, process trauma, improve communication and relationships, and develop a greater sense of balance, self-understanding, safety, and connection.
She has worked in mental health since 2007 across several continents and levels of care, supporting individuals and families through complex trauma, life transitions, emotional dysregulation, identity exploration, and relational challenges.
She earned her Master’s in Forensic and Counseling Psychology from the Massachusetts School of Professional Psychology. Her therapeutic style is collaborative, compassionate, and grounded in the belief that healing begins with safety; within the body, within relationships, and within ourselves. She places an emphasis on slowing down, listening to what behaviors and reactions are trying to communicate, and learning to separate external “shoulds” from authentic needs and values. She believes vulnerability can feel terrifying, change is rarely linear, and small wins deserve celebration. Her work is rooted in helping clients radically accept their genuine identity, strengthen communication, and building sustainable change through willpower, self-awareness, and connection.
In another life, Rebecca often says she would have wanted to be Indiana Jones; as she is drawn to curiosity, discovery, and understanding the stories beneath the surface. Outside of her clinical work, she is a mother of two and lives in Boston with her children, partner, and dog, Pancake. She enjoys spending time outdoors, reading, cooking, and exploring creative art and gardening projects. Rebecca believes we should never stop learning, growing, or searching for moments of presence and connection in everyday life. She often reminds clients that healing is not linear, and that everything is figureoutable.
When states of safety are manifested in the structures of the body, the body is poised to serve as a platform for healing. -- Stephen Porges
